    Description

Abstract framed painting by Hawai'ian Artist Tadashi Sato (1923-2005)
An American artist born in Maui, Sato studied at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. He studied with Stuart Davis and Ralson Crawford and worked at the Pratt Institute in NYC.
Sato is well known for his mosaic in the Hawaiian Capitol and his work is in and has been exhibited in numerous museum collections, including the Guggenheim, National Gallery, MoMA, and the Whitney.
President Johnson honored Sato (along with such notables as O'Keefe and Pollock) in 1965.
Like most of Sato's painted works, this piece featured his crosshatch brush strokes and ethereal appearance.
This untitled work appears to be a beach clearing with sea and sky but is completely open to interpretation.
    Dimensions: 22" x 27"/ 29.5" x 24.25" framed.
No issues noted.  Some minor dust. Dated 1992.
